I am setting up a new 75G African Cichlid tank and am curious about trying fishless cycling with Stability. In the past I have added ammonia to a new tank to fishless cycle it. I maintained an ammonia level of about 4 to 5 ppm until the nitrite started to spike then cut my addition of ammonia in half. When Nitrates started appearing and Nitrite went to zero I knew I was ready to add fish.

My question is this, can I use Stability to build a bacteria colony quicker and then maintain the population of bacteria by adding ammonia for a week or two before adding fish. I want to have this tank ready to add all of the fish in at once (15 - 6 to 8 inch AF Cichlids) what kind of an ammonia level do you think I should maintain to build and support a bacteria colony large enough for this amount of fish?

As always thanks for the help.

We have not used Stability in that way. We generally add fish and Stability on the same day. However other people have used Stability for a fishless cycle and posted their results on a forum.
