View Full Version : Ph?
I Have a 30 gal malawi cichlid tank and have been using the malawi/ victoria buffer. My Ph seems to be around 8.5-9.0 but im not sure. The test kit i have may not be the best. Will the malawi/victoria buffer keep the ph in the 7.8-8.4 range even if the ph is higher than that? in other words will it drop the ph to the corrrect levels? Also the tank is new.
Thanks Josh

Yes, the Malawi/Victoria Buffer is formulated to maintain a pH between 7.8 and 8.4, depending on the amount used. It will therefore adjust the pH to this range from above or below. Often times, test kits for pH are not very accurate; pH probes or meters will be the best means of getting an accurate reading. Using the buffer as directed, though, should yield a pH between 7.8 and 8.4.
Thanks. I assume that i cant use it all the time or it will make the water to hard?

You can use it as part of your regular maintenance(add it whenever adding or replacing water). Doing so should not make your water too hard.
Great. Thanks for the info.
