I would like to see if it's possible, here at Seachem (specifically in the forums), to be able to show pictures of your own aquarium. That's why I started this thread. Everyone can compare, get new ideas, and get a view of how most aqauriums can be set up.
I also hope the Tech Support or Seachem Specialists are able to show off theirs as well...
[Edit] Finally I was able to produce some pictures of my 180 gallon Freshwater Community Aquarium. The Aquarium was built on a custom foundation and is placed in a BAR in my house.
My Aquarium...
-For fish, I have: Gouramis (blue and gold), Angel Fish (2), Goldfish (Comet and Common), Pleco, Tetras, Mollies, one Bosemani Rainbow Fish, and an Upside-Down catfish.
-For Plants, I have: 4 natural background plants (Amazon Sword, Straight Vallisneria, Water Onion, and Water Primrose - although mine is green, so I may be confused), and the rest are artificial.
-For filters: Two biological filters (forgot the name) and a custom made wet/dry filter system (not for display, yet).
-For lighting, two to three 15 watt fluorescent bulbs - Aqua Ray bulbs (forgot the color temp as well, probably between the blue and green spectrum), and one black light 15 watt fluorescent bulb; these lamps are all 18 inches in length.
-Feeding: I feed them once a day a variety of foods, both vegetation type (algae discs) and general fish food for tropical fish - flakes, shrimp, microcrabs, tubix worms (freeze-dried cubes). However, the black light that I sometimes put on for the aquarium at night attracts moths into the water as a dinner meal or late night snack for the fish.
-Pumps: one 40 gallon air pump connecting to a multi-port valve, etc. for decor. and a submersible water-pump that operates at 950 GPH in the wet-dry filter system.
-Cleaning: Once a month I replace 25% of the water to improve the redox., which I must also balance the GH, KH, and PH again. I use a toothbrush to scrub mulm off ornaments and sometimes on the glass. Then I use a water clarifier different from Seachem's, becuase Seachem's clarifier contains a flocculant agent, which somewhat forces you to siphon out the precipitating organics/impurities that automatically build up on the gravel. So, I use Kent's Marine Freshwater Clarifier as it doesn't contain any flocculant.
-Chemicals: I use the 100 ml bottle of Prime for water changes only, because sometimes I would use well water to add trace minerals to my aqaurium. However, well water can have pathogens, so I sterilize the water with 10.5% sodium hypochlorite and detoxify the water with Prime later on. I also use Flourish bi-weekly, and 1 ounce of baking soda bi-weekly as my KH seems to drop below 3 dKH every 2-3 weeks; an addition of 0.6 ounce of 31% muriatic acid helps stabilize the PH when I add that much baking soda to my 180 gallon aquarium, however, I add the acid in the intake of the custom made wet-dry filter system (the custom made intake prevents the acid from harming the fish directly). Also, I chose muriatic acid, because I prefer chloride ions over sulfide ions as the end result when the type of acid is added to the water; sulfates constantly build-up and act as a laxative for the fish - can be toxic at very high levels - however, chloride ions is said to be useful for fish and plants.
