Another Safe Dosing Question

I'm trying to figure out how much Seachem Safe to use in my tanks, given my water utility's report on chlorine levels.

I've been using 5 mL of Prime in my 55 gallon tank and I haven't had any problems during water changes. (I also have three other tanks, 120 gallon, 115 gallon 110 gallon.)

I'm now planning to switch to Safe and I see that the instructions for it are based on removing 1 ppm of chlorine or chloramines. My water utility uses chloramine and according to the latest water quality report the target level is 2.5 mg/L (which I understand to be essentially the same as parts per million), but the mean level of total chlorine concentration is 3.5 mg/L. How much Safe should I be dosing? Should I have been using a higher dosage of Prime?

The standard dose of Prime will remove all of the allowable level of chloramine found in tap water.

For safe, I would recommend that you use 3.5 - 4 measures (each measure is 100mg) for every 20 gallons to ensure that all chlorine and/or chloramine is removed.

Thanks. I've now received the Safe and can't find the measure in the bottle. Can you tell me how a measure relates to a teaspoon?

Trying again, as I haven't received a response to my follow-up question. I can't find the measuring device my jar of Safe. How does a measure relate to a teaspoon?

1 Teaspoon of Safe = 5 grams

1 Scoop = 100 mg

1000 mg = 1 gram

5 grams x 1000 mg

5000/100 = 50 level scoops Safe = 1 Teaspoon Safe

Now with that being said, when I performed these measurements in the lab, I did a normal scoop (not level) and got approximately half.

So about 25 Scoops Safe = 1 Teaspoon Safe

I hope this makes sense.
