Hello, I have a 57 gallon RR tank that will be mainly sps. I have two media reactors (Octopus R100) that I currently run Seachem Renew and Seachem Phosguard. I am also dripping Kalk and will put in a Calcium Reactor shortly. I also have a pretty large bag of Matrix in the sump.

As I stated, this will be primarily an sps tank with about 6 fish and a few snails and shrimp. Are these two (Renew & Phosguard) the best media for me to run in my reactors?

Thanks for the post, cooperj!

When running the Phosguard or Renew in a media reactor, it is better if you are able to adjust the flow down. Over time, as the beads/media rub against one another, and since they are so porous, they can create a dust that can get into your aquarium, potentially irritating your corals. If you cannot adjust the flow, it may be better to place the Phosguard or Renew into a media bag and put into your sump.
