I have not been getting correct results from a iodine/ iodide test.

I've tried this test at least 8 different ways. I,ve used the test solution and came up with zero iodine. I,ve also used a small cupfull of saltwater from my tank to which a added quite a bit of iodine and also came up with zero iodine.

I have been using distilled water which I bought to make up the needed reagent, could this cause problems?

I also have a phosphate test and silicate test and both seem to report ok.

Our apologies for your difficulties. We include a reference of known value in each kit we make for the exact purpose of always being able to make certain you have good working reagents and to practice the test procedure. As you are not able to get a reading on the reference and you are using distilled water with fresh batches of the mixed reagent, we can easily surmise that one or more of your reagents may have been exposed to extreme temperatures and thus is not functioning properly. If you will email us your postal address at support@seachem.com we will be happy to assist you further with the matter.
