  • Adding Salt with Cupramine for freshwater tank

I have a 75 gal freshwater grow out tank for African cichlids. Today I found two new beautiful fish and although I know better, put them straight into my tank without quarantine. Now I see they have ich so I added 1 tsp salt per 10 gallon of water (15 tsp. for 75gal.) to help with the ich.
I have a bottle of Cupramine. Per the instructions on the bottle I should dose 1/2 strength for freshwater fish. Does adding salt to a freshwater tank change the dosing instructions?

Thanks for the post, farmhand! Typically adding salt to a freshwater tank will not change the salinity or the ion concentration in the water drastically enough that the lower concentration of Cupramie will no longer be effective. In brackish tanks, I would recommend a treatment threshold of about .3mg/L

    I hope this helps!
