Flourish Tabs - substrate depth

Hi, I have 3 questions regarding Flourish Tabs.

1.
At the shallowest point, my substrate (mixture of Flourite Black and inert black sand) has a depth of about 3 cm (just over 1 inch). Is it ok to use the Flourish Tabs in these areas of the tank? I'm worried that because the substrate is so shallow, nutrients could be leached into the water column.

2.
Also, how quickly do Flourish Tabs dissolve? I have a tendency to rearrange my aqua-scape often. I'm scared that doing so would disturb the Tabs, causing a nutrient spike and algae bloom.

3.
I plan to plant mostly hairgrass. Would you recommend Flourish Tabs or Flourish (liquid form) for hairgrass?

Thank you

Re: Flourish Tabs - substrate depth

Thanks for the post! I will answer your questions as they were asked:

1. It will be fine to use the tabs in the shallow substrate. The amount that may get leached into the water column will not be significant enough to make any kind of impact on the water parameters.

2. They dissolve slowly over a period of time, but will also be utilized by plant roots rather quickly. If you disturb your substrate on a regular basis, then there is potential for the root tabs to create some debris in your water column. Just be sure to siphon after or during the disturbance.

3. You can either use one or the other or use both in conjunction with one another. The root tabs will target the root zone for feeding, while the Flourish will target foliar (leaves and stems) feeding. For grass type species, I would recommend the tabs for sure.
