Acid Buffer and KH questions

I have some questions about Acid Buffer and KH.

My only goal is to reduce my KH by 2 (or possibly 3, but let's use 2 for this scenario).

My water from tap is 6 KH, 7 GH

1/4 teaspoon Acid Buffer will reduce KH (not GH) by .6 in 20 gallons, correct? I wish to do 50 gallon water changes weekly, so for 50 gallons, I should add just over 2 teaspoons to reduce the KH in the changed water by 2. Thus I will have water with KH 4, and GH 7? Is that all there is to it?

Re: Acid Buffer and KH questions

Correct Acid Buffer will not lower GH. It will reduce KH by .6. For 50 gallons of water you would need to add almost 2 teaspoons to adjust the KH. Be sure to check the pH of the water you are adding.
