RO water treatment

Hi:
Soon I will receive my new Pinnacle+ RO unit. Until then I want to know a few things in order to make all clear the proper use of your products.
The unit will be use for two aquariums: one of malawi cichlids (started) and the other a planted tank (no yet started).
How to condicionate properly the RO water for the malawi tank: Only with Malawi Buffer? or Do I need to use the Cichlid Trace too?

How to conditionate properly the RO water for the planted tank:
Which is the proper gH value for a planted tank (most fern and some javas maybe)
Do I need Equilibrium "and" a buffer for planted tank? This buffer is phospate free?

And the last question:
To mantain a correct use of the RO unit, do I need to mantain the unit with water in it? or can I disconnect it from the main faucet (maybe with a shut valve)? Sorry, but this is my first RO unit.
Thanks

Re: RO water treatment

RO water needs to be conditioned with the Buffer to set the pH. since the water is filtered you will also need to add Cichlid Lake Salt to add back mineral content. trace elements should be used as well. RO water does not have trace elements as well. Trace elements are needed for proper growth and development.

RO water needs buffering as well to maintain constant pH. Acid and Alkaline Buffer are phosphate free buffers that will help to set the pH. The plants you have like moderately hard water which would be 6-8 dH. Equilibrium will add mineral content as well to RO water and help to set the GH for you.
The unit can be stored without water and disconnected if you like.
