Storage Containers

I am mixing my Reefsalt and keeping it in a 10 Gallon tank and keeping at 78-80 degrees for when changing water in my display tank.

I am considering using a large styrofoam container that I obtained from a local vets office.

Do I have to be concerned with anything leaching from the styrofoam into the water or reacting with the Reefsalt?

Thank you for your help with this.

Re: Storage Containers

I would not recommend using this container to mix up your saltwater. Polystyrene (component of styrofoam) is made with the use of Benzene. Benzene is known to be toxic to some fish and inverts. I do not know whether or not it will be leached, but I would not take the chance.
