Purigen regeneration

Hello!

Could you clarify one point regarding Purigen regeneration?

I understand that after 12 hours of immersion in a bleach solution, we then immersed in a declorinator solution for 8 hours (such as Purigen Prime), followed by another 4 in a buffer solution (such as Seachem Neutral Regulator).

My question is: since Seachem Neutral Regulator is a dechlorinator, why do we need to use Prime and them Neutral Regulator? Will it not work to immerse Purigen in Neutral Regulator for 12 hours so we kill 2 birds with 1 stone?

Thanks
Tim

Re: Purigen regeneration

Hello,

You could use Neutral Regulator alone but you would need to use about 5 tablespoons of the powdered version per cup of water to equal the dechlorination power in 2 tablespoons of Prime. It is much more cost effective to use Prime and then Neutral Regulator than Neutral Regulator alone.
