Discus buffer

I do a 50% water change once a week for my discus. The pH is currently at 6.0 and I was wondering how I can maintain that pH with a water change. How much discus buffer should I use with my water change to maintain pH 6.0 the water being supplied from the tap is at pH 7.2

Thanks for the post. If your tank is not a planted tank, then I would recommend using the Discus Buffer in conjunction with the Neutral Regulator in order to specifically target a pH of 6.0. There is a ratio chart listed on the label that allows you to target any pH between 5.8-6.8 by using these two products together. These ratios are based on using RO/DI water, so since you are using tap water, it may take a little trial and error to reach your desired pH. I would recommend starting out with the suggested ratios (1:6; Neutral Reg:Discus Buffer) and then test your replacement water to see where this brought you. If it is still a little high then add a bit more Discus Buffer.

However, if you are not wanting to use the Neural Regulator, then you can certainly use the Discus Buffer alone and still achieve a pH of 6.0. I would recommend adding the instructed amount to your replacement water until you reach your desired pH. Testing along the way so that you do not over shoot it.
