Matrix Carbon exhaustion

What is a basic indicator for when to change your Matrix Carbon

The length of time that Matrix Carbon will last depends on
the water quality or organic load. It is suggested that Matrix Carbon be changed about every 2-3 months. There is no change in the product that will indicate exhaustion. One way to measure the length of time that Matrix Carbon last would be to allow the carbon to filter the water until you note a change in the water color. The change would be for example going from clear water to a yellowish tint. At that point, Matrix Carbon is exhausted. That will give you a more definite time line of usage for your individual tank. Based on that time line you can replace Matrix Carbon before the water color changes.
